Director: Basil Dearden, Charles Crichton and Sidney Cole
Release Date: July 1949
In The Cinema of Basil Dearden and Michael Relph, by Alan Burton and Tim O’Sullivan, 2009, it is noted, pp158-59n15 that ‘Dearden’s shooting script, dated 11 January 1949, indicates a range of locations, including Euston Station, Willesden Junction and Camden Locomotive yards.’ It would be interesting to know if other locations are mentioned. The only contemporary news item thus found, Falkirk Herald, 9 February 1949, reported that ‘When the last train has left the Strand Underground Station filmmakers take over from transport officials. With the co-operation of London Transport, Ealing Studios are filming sequences for Michael Balcon’s current production, “Train of Events.” Joan Dowling, of “Hue and Cry” fame, appears in these scenes, with Lawrence [sic] Payne as an escaped German prisoner of war whom she is helping to hide from the police.’
