On 9 October 1986 the Uxbridge Leader reported that ‘Superman IV [was] being filmed at Uxbridge Civic Centre this week.’ The reported continued that ‘The six-day stay by the Cannon film crew will net Hillingdon Council close on £20,000 in rental fees for three committee rooms, the civic hall and the council chamber. The committee rooms were disguised as offices for filming whereas the council chamber starred as part of the Pentagon in Washington.’ Strangly no such scenes are apparent in the finished film. The Evening Herald [Dublin] noted, 24 January 1987, that ‘London’s Wembley Conference Centre….doubled as New York’s United Nations building for the picture.’
