On 5 May 1939 the Advertiser and Gazette reported that filming for “The Arsenal Stadium Mystery” will begin ‘to-morrow [when] the cameras will go into action at Highbury. They will be covering the Arsenal-Brentford match. Studio scenes will not begin yet, but advantage is being taken of the co-operation of the Arsenal and Brentford to shoot an important sequence of exteriors.’ The Acton Gazette and West London Post, 19 May 1939, added that ‘They tell us the cost of setting up ten cameras at Highbury on Saturday [6 May] to film the Arsenal-Brentford match was over £700.
