Kinematograph Weekly, 22 February 1969, reported that ‘The Walking Stick’ will ‘include a fair proportion of location work around London. Scenes at the artist’s riverside studio will be filmed at he East India Dock where the studio has been built on an open patch of the riverside close to the Gun Inn [Coldharbour]. A highlight of this location will be a Guy Fawkes Night bonfire and fireworks party. At Hampstead, where the girl lives with her parents, Holly Walk will be used. Other scenes will be shot on Hampstead Heath, in Hanover Square, St. James’s Square and at the National Film Theatre.’ While the St. James’s Square and National Film Theatre locations are easy to spot what appears to be a county walk taken by Hemmings and Eggar probably shows them on Hampstead Heath while there appear to be no scenes filmed in Hanover Square.
