Release Date: January 1958
The 15 November 1957 issue of the Leicester Evening Mail reported that ‘Peter Cushing, playing the part of a priest, placed a ladder against the side of a school and climbed to a top window where Teddy Boy, David McCallum, was holding a classroomful of children to hostage at the point of a machine gun.’ The report added that after McCallum pushes the ladder away, sending ‘Cushing to the hard playground below’ he ‘got up unhurt and went of signing autographs!’ Rather oddly the report failed to mention that the location was St. Mary and Michael School, Sutton Street, in Stepney. Despite being set in Liverpool this production made liberal use of London locations.
