The Sunderland Echo, 17 August 1953, noted that Richard Attenborough had been spotted driving a taxi at Waterloo Station where he ‘was filming a scene for “Eight O’Clock Walk,” in which he plays a taxi driver arrested for murder.’ The scene must have been left on the cutting room floor.

As the tune 'Oranges and Lemons' plays the camera lingers on St. Clement Danes Church with the view east along Strand towards Fleet Street.

As the tune continues the view is across Trafalgar Square Trafalgar Square to St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church.

Whilst St. Paul's Cathedral isn't mentioned in 'Oranges and Lemons' it is featured as the tune plays on.

Sticking with the tune affords a shot of St. Leonard's Church, Shoreditch High Street.

The 'bells of Stepney' are depicted in a shot of the Church of St. Dunstan & All Saints, Stepney High Street.

With the 'Oranges and Lemons' theme out of the way the filmmakers move to a rather more predictable area of London with a view of Essendine Primary School, Essendine Road, Maida Vale.

However the subsequent shot of school children shows them in Bolton Road, facing towards Alexandra Road, on the border of St. John's Wood and Kilburn.

As the children approach the view is from Holtham Road into Bolton Road with The Albert Edward pub on the corner.
