Director: Albert De Courville
Release Date: July 1935
The British Film Catalogue 1895-1985, by Denis Gifford, states that this film was 72 minutes while the print used here clocked in at 48 minutes. However, my gut feeling is that I was spared 24 minutes of some awful song and dance routines rather than more location shots.
Capture 1
The view south along Charing Cross Road, where the next turning on the left is Cranbourne Street, sets the theatrical scene.
Capture 2
Passing the National Portrait Gallery while St. Martin-in-the-Fields is in St. Martin's Place.
Capture 3
Unidentified. Presumably a real theatre with a phony sign.
Capture 4
Unidentified. As Arthur Sinclair tells a story he refers to arriving at 'Actor's Corner', Charing Cross Road.
Capture 5
Unidentified. As Sinclair steps out at 'Actor's Corner' he encounters Derek Oldham and Jean Colin, possibly opposite a theatre.
Capture 6
Unidentified. More of the same encounter with architectural details.
Capture 7
Unidentified. Yet more of the same encounter and some more architectural details.
Capture 8
Unidentified. A theatre?
Capture 9
Unidentified. While all the song and dance routines take place on a studio set the filmmakers inserted a few shots of a real theatre audience.
