On 9 December 1937 the Kinematograph Weekly reported that ‘Shooting of the important sequences in the theft of £600,000 gold bullion took at the Docks between 6 p.m. on Saturday [4 December] and 6 a.m. on Sunday, [5 December] during which the company experienced severe snow, sleet, hail and rain storms and fog. About 50 artistes and technicians took part. A battery of sun arcs and minor lights turned the Royal Albert Dock into a mass of day lighting and dock police mingled with screen police in protecting the bullion from gangsters. Prominent among the artistes taking part were Francis L. Sullivan and Frank Cellier.’
