The Chelsea News and General Advertiser, 28 September 1973, reported that ‘The famous Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni spent several days last week filming sequences for his lastest film on location in Notting Hill. The crew set up outside St. John’s parish church on top of Notting Hill, to begin filming on Thursday morning. “The director fell in love with this location – and with a house we’ll be using in that street,” said an assistant pointing to tree-lined Lansdowne Crescent. All by-standers saw was a young man getting out of a taxi to follow an older, very English-looking man from Ladbroke Grove into Lansdowne Crescent. This was repeated for the camera several times.’ While no such scene showing a taxi and a ‘very English-looking man’ made it to the finished film Lansdowne Crescent and the ‘house’ are visited by Jack Nicholson.
